So. Aroostook High School Senior Candace Day will be graduating with honors in June. Candace participated in the Early Childhood Program at the Region Two School of Applied Technology in Houlton. While at Region Two, Candace earned her OSHA 10 and CPR/First Aid Training. Candace was a member of the Prom and Yearbook committees and recently joined the So. Aroostook Scholarship Fund student committee. Candace also served on the student council for two years.
Candace has been a member of the So. Aroostook High School Varsity Cheer team for five years and served as Cheer captain for the past two years. Candace also managed Varsity Baseball for three seasons and Varsity Boys Soccer for one season.
Candace has also participated in a variety of community service projects including volunteering at the SACS Community Service Day, the SACS Clothing Drive, and also volunteering at the Island Falls Recreation Department selling concessions at ball games. Candace & Jordyn Bishop volunteered their time and created a Junior Cheerleading team for grades 2-7 students for their Senior Capstone Project. Students performed sideline cheers at a few games this winter and performed a dance routine at our annual pep rally.
Candace currently works part-time at Jerry’s Food Store in Island Falls and has also worked housekeeping at Vacationland Estates in Island Falls. Candace plans to attend Eastern Maine Community College to major in Business Management. She would like to own her own business in the future. Candace is the daughter of Malinda Achorn and Bill Day.
