RYLEE WEBB RECEIVES MPA PRINCIPAL’S AWARD

Rylee Webb of Hersey, a senior at Southern Aroostook High School, has been selected to receive the 2025 Principal’s Award, Principal Jon Porter announced today. The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship.

“Throughout her years here at Southern Aroostook, Rylee has distinguished herself in the classroom and as a leader in the school and the community.”  Principal Porter noted in making the award.  “Rylee has been very active in many school and community related activities that have accentuated her outstanding character and commitment to excellence. “She is very deserving of this recognition.”

Rylee is an active member of the National Honor Society, serving as vice president last year and president this year. Rylee will graduate with honors in the top 5% of her class.  Rylee also currently serves as Class President of the Class of 2025 and has served in that role for the last three years.  She also serves as the student representative for the RSU 50 School Board.  Rylee attended the Maine Youth Leadership Conference in Grade 10 as an ambassador and in Grade 11 as a counselor. Rylee was also selected to represent So. Aroostook High School at Dirigo State.  Rylee is active in the community through volunteer projects such as volunteering at the So. Aroostook Food Pantry, Special Olympics, and at the after-school program here at Southern Aroostook.   

Rylee has been accepted to the University of Maine for the 2025 Fall semester into the College of Education and Human Development with a major in Secondary Education and has been invited to join the Honors College. Rylee has also been accepted into the Secondary Education program at the University of Maine at Presque Isle and Husson University. Rylee is the daughter of Chris Webb & Kristen Fitzherbert of Hersey.  

Rylee, Principal Porter and other award winners and their principals will attend an Honors Luncheon at Jeff’s Catering on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at 12:30 p.m.The Honors Luncheon recognizes these outstanding students with the presentation of an individual plaque and the awarding of ten $1,000 scholarships in the names of former Maine principals and MPA Executive Directors: Horace O. McGowan, Richard W. Tyler, and Richard A. Durost.

The Principal’s Award is presented in more than 100 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association which represents Maine’s school administrators.
