So. Aroostook Community School in Dyer Brook, Maine is pleased to announce that the Educational Plant Maintenance Association (EPMA) of Maine has chosen So. Aroostook Community School's Robert Betschner as this year's "Custodian of the Year" and Robert will be the recipient of the A. Burleigh Oxton Award for Excellence.
The criteria for the award is for a custodial/maintenance employee who is recognized for exemplary job performance; is passionate about maintaining and operating the school building to ensure clean, safe and healthy learning and working environments; and serves as a role model for students. The nominee will obviously be a dedicated employee who is known for going the extra mile to help students, staff and visitors to the facility. Robert is well deserving of this award. Robert not only does custodial and maintenance duties, Rob drives school bus when needed, and has coached various athletic teams including middle school baseball and high school softball. As a high school softball coach, Robert's teams had great success with his team competing in four regional championship games. Robert goes above and beyond to help students and staff and is a positive role model for students in the building and an informal school leader demonstrated through his strong work ethic and positive interactions. Also, the A. Burleigh Oxton Award for Excellence recipient, Robert Betschner, will receive a plaque and a $1,500.00 college scholarship that will be awarded in their name to a deserving graduate in their district.
