Jennah Brooks

Jonathan Porter, Principal at Southern Aroostook Community School is pleased to announce that Jennah Brooks of Island Falls, Maine, a senior at Southern Aroostook Community School, has been selected to receive the 2023 Principal’s Award.  The award sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship.

“Throughout her years here at Southern Aroostook, Jennah has distinguished herself in the classroom and as a leader in the school and the community.”  Principal Porter noted in making the award.  “Jennah has been very active in many school and community related activities that have accentuated her outstanding character and commitment to excellence. “She is very deserving of this recognition.”

Jennah is an active member of the National Honor Society serving as Vice President in 2022 and as President in 2023.  Jennah also currently serves as President of the Student Council.  Jennah is a member of TRIO, Yearbook, has served on the Prom Committee, and is a member of the So. Aroostook Scholarship Fund.  Jennah attended the HOBY Youth Leadership Conference, was selected to represent So. Aroostook High School at Dirigo Girls State, was chosen as the Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen Award Winner, was selected as a Heisman High School Scholarship Award Winner, and will graduate in the top 5% of her class.     

Jennah is active in the community through volunteer projects such as the So. Aroostook Food Pantry and the annual SACS Clothing Drive.  Jennah has participated in Varsity Soccer Basketball, and Softball earning All-Aroostook Honors in Softball in 2022.  Jennah also works part-time at Ellis Family Market in Patten.    

Jennah Brooks has been accepted at Southern Maine Community College for Business Administration and at the University of Maine at Augusta for an Associate of Science in Business Administration and will receive a Dean’s Academic Scholarship worth up to $12,000 per year.  Jennah has also been accepted at the University of Southern Maine. Jennah Brooks has also been accepted at Franklin Pierce University in the Business Administration Program and was awarded the President’s Scholarship of $33,000 per year. Jennah is the daughter of Robert and Brandy Brooks of Island Falls.  

Jennah and other award school winners are invited to an Honors Luncheon and will be presented an individual plaque.  Jennah will also have the opportunity to be awarded one of ten $1,000 scholarships in the name of Horace O. McGowan, Richard W. Tyler, and Richard A. Durost.  Mr. McGowan, Mr. Tyler, and Mr. Durost were former Maine Principals and MPA Executive Directors. 

The Principal's Award is presented in more than 100 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association which represents Maine's school administrators.
