Tonight, The Southern Aroostook basketball team, band members and fans are encouraged to wear Pink in support of the many people impacted by Cancer for our Annual "Pink Out" Game. All proceeds from tonights game will be donated to Cancer Research.
Many of you may have known a special fan of ours, Charlotte Durr, who collected money at the door for our Junior High and High School Basketball games.
After a courageous battle with cancer, Charlotte passed away on January 1st, surrounded by her loving family. Charlotte spent many years as a School Counselor at Katahdin Middle/High School and Southern Aroostook High School. She spent 43 years in education serving students and families in rural Maine. After retiring, Charlotte worked 11 more years as a TRIO Talent Search Advisor at the University of Maine at Presque Isle. In total, she worked 54 years in public education!
Join us tonight as we celebrate the remarkable contributions Charlotte made to our school and community. Her kindness, wisdom, and passion for education will continue to inspire us.

Good luck to the Southern Aroostook High School boys basketball team in their final home games tonight vs. Katahdin High School. Games times are JV Boys-5:00pm for the Varsity boys-6:30pm. This is also Senior Night for the Varsity Boys team and the high school band . Seniors Ethan Collier, Ryder Russell, Trafton Russell and team manager Rylee Webb will be recognized for their contributions to the Southern Aroostook High School Boys Basketball program. They have been members of two State Championship Teams here at So. Aroostook.

Winter Carnival Update

The 2025 Aroostook Right 2 Read bookmark contest winners were announced today. Congratulations to 1st grader Darrell Toner, 3rd grader Adalyn King and 6th grader Amira Anderson! The winning bookmarks have been sent off to the printers so each student in grades K - 8 can have one in time for Stop! Drop! and Read! on April 9th.

6th graders completed the "Bud, Not Buddy" Suitcase Project today. Students had to create their own suitcase and decide what 3 prized possessions they would carry inside. They had to present their project and explain the significance of each item.




Congratulations to Southern Aroostook High School senior Olivia Ellingwood on her acceptance to the University of New England with a major in Biochemistry where she received a merit award in the amount of $25,000 annually! She was also accepted at Husson University and the University of Maine where she earned merit awards in the amount of $38,000 and $4,000 respectively.

Due to the extreme cold weather forecast and advisory for tomorrow night, Thursday, January 30, 2025, the "Ski for Life" field trip to Mars Hill for Southern Aroostook after-school program is canceled.

Ski 4 Life update: Temps look quite cold for skiing tomorrow. Parents and guardians please use your own judgment because at this time we are still making the trip happen.
Congratulations to Southern Aroostook High School senior Skyla Lewis on her acceptance to the University of Maine at Presque Isle for Secondary Education and also the University of Maine! She plans to attend the University of Maine, majoring in Art Education.

Congratulations to Southern Aroostook High School student Emma Stubbs on earning Student of the Quarter for the 1st quarter at the Region Two School of Applied Technology in Houlton! Emma participates in the Welding Program.

Congratulations to Southern Aroostook High School sophomores Ruth Greene, Jazmyn Ellingwood, and Lily Rush-alternate for being chosen by the high school staff to attend the Maine Youth Leadership(MYL) Conference for their outstanding leadership and character.
The conference will be held at Saint Joseph's College in Standish, from May 15th-18th, 2025. MYL has worked with Maine youth to seek out, recognize, and develop leadership skills. The goal is to motivate Maine's future leaders and create a network of civic-minded students who will better their communities through volunteering.

Congratulations to Southern Aroostook High School sophomores Brooke Shields, Emma Stubbs, and Lily Rush-alternate for being chosen by the high school staff to attend the Hugh O'Brian Youth Conference(HOBY) for their outstanding leadership and character.
HOBY is a great fit for students who: are passionate about their communities, have leadership potential, understand and relate to the experiences of others, are curious and eager to learn, are interested in service, are adaptable and self-reflective, like to collaborate and work with others, demonstrate good character, have a strong sense of integrity, & are excited to connect with peers across the state. The conference will be held at the University of Maine Farmington from June 13th-15, 2025.
