SACS high school students continue to impress the judges with their STEM fair projects! Many interesting topics have been explored....surface tension of water, potential and kinetic energy, drugs and genetics, differences between aquatic and non-aquatic bird feathers, materials that can be used to filter water, how the chemical, luminol, works to help investigate crime scenes, and how an online weather app compares to our school weather station. Keep up the great work!

Congratulations to Southern Aroostook's Luke Streinz for earning All-Aroostook in Nordic Skiing! Luke finished first in the freestyle pursuit at the Aroostook County Nordic Championship earlier this month.

We are proud to announce that Lana Desmond, our 2nd grade teacher, is a finalist for Aroostook County Teacher of the Year! Mrs. Desmond has been working at Southern Aroostook for 20 years, first as an educational technician and for the last 7 years as a teacher. She is respected and admired by her colleagues and parents and loved by her students! Southern Aroostook feels fortunate to have her, and we wish her the best in this endeavor.

Congratulations to So. Aroostook High School juniors Hunter Burpee, Aedan Gadsby, & Chris Caswell(alternate) on their selection for the 2021 Dirigo Boys State! Their selection is based on their outstanding achievement and leadership.
Normally, the boys would have an opportunity to attend a week long summer conference with other juniors from around the state to learn about the state government. It is yet to be determined if there will be a conference this year. due to Covid-19.
