Southern Aroostook Community School students are engaging in some great science fun with the Maine Mobile BIOLAB. Grades 5-8 students solve engineering design challenges and work cooperatively to design a product or process using model STEM activities developed by Educate Maine in partnership with Learning Undefeated that integrate content knowledge aligned to the Maine Learning Results. This program is offered at no cost to schools.
The Maine Mobile BIOLAB offers cross-curricular STEM experiences. These activities will introduce bioscience to students from Grade 5 through Grade 8, and allow students to engage with the engineering design process. Educate Maine will provide the materials needed to complete engineering design challenges focused on brainstorming, designing, and testing. All activities focus on students designing solutions to problems and allow for collaboration and exploration of the content.

This morning we were joined by Craig Scott from Colorado. Craig is a Columbine survivor and presented two separate assemblies, one geared toward our elementary students and a second presentation for our middle/high school students. His message of kindness, care and compassion for those around us was well-received by students and staff. He has encouraged us to leave a positive impact on those around us through our words and actions with the idea that kindness is a domino effect spread like a "chain reaction".

We would like to send a huge thank you out to John and Soo Lagasse for their generous financial gift to our art program! They are Mr. Pelletier's aunt and uncle. We definitely appreciate their generosity! Below is a picture of some of the purchases.
