Jazmyn Ellingwood, Cooper Gardner, and Jakoby Porter represented Southern Aroostook High School at the annual Aroostook League Leadership Summit at the University of Maine at Presque Isle today. The event sponsored by the Aroostook League Athletic Directors is an opportunity for student-athletes from Aroostook County schools to learn more about leadership and their respective roles as positive role models to their peers, schools, and community. Thank you to the Aroostook County Athletic Directors for providing this opportunity to our students. 7th Grade students in Mrs. Collier's Theater/Performing Arts class had some fun this week with make-up. Students learned how to use make-up to create fake wounds and cuts on the skin.

Good luck to the Southern Aroostook High School Girls Basketball team in their away games this evening vs. Lee Academy . Game time is 6:00pm.

Four eighth grade students from Southern Aroostook Middle School have been selected to participate in the Future Professional of Aroostook Program. This program has been developed by a committee of Southern Aroostook Development Corporation(SADC), educators, local business people and partners.

Porter McCluskey, Liem Ryan, Jasmine Eastman, and Ebon Flannery will be participating in the program which is created to help prepare young adults for the future workforce be teaching and enforcing core values, fostering relationships with local business professionals and organizations, and providing financial, educational, and career guidance.

Members of the SADC that met with our students include Josh McLaughlin from J. McLaughlin Construction, Zack Chase from Building's Etc,, and Levi Prosser from Daigle Oil Company. Thank you for providing this opportunity for our students!!

Southern Aroostook Community School will be hosting a "Winter Walk" the next two evenings. Please see attached flyer for times and details. The after-school program is hosting this event.

The Aroostook County Action Program(ACAP) recently provided lessons to Southern Aroostook Middle & High school students about the dangers of smoking and vaping. They used the CATCH My Breath curriculum which is a free, evidence-based youth vaping prevention program with published evidence of reducing students’ likelihood to vape and is aligned to national and state education standards, 153 students, in Grades 6-10, attended over 33 sessions and completed the program. Thank you to Alison from ACAP and Jessica Greene, So. Aroostook School Counselor, for facilitating these lessons.

The Southern Aroostook Middle School Basketball Season ended their yesterday afternoon vs. Millinocket. Congratulations to the girls and boys teams on successful seasons. Thank you to the parents/guardians of each of the players for your support of your child, the team and the program.

Our outdoor classroom and walking trails have been turned into a Winter Wonderland! This Friday and Saturday (12th and 13th) they will be aglow for a visit from Santa, the Mrs, and the Grinch. Stop by between 4 and 7pm for some holiday cheer! We'll have a bonfire, hot cocoa, cookies, popcorn balls, carolers, music and more! Donations will be accepted for our ASP 🎅🏼
