Ms. Fitzherbert's Chemistry Class was selected to participate in the "Bringing Nuclear Fission to Light" classroom program from America's Navy. Topics included radioactive decay and nuclear fission and it culminated in a hands-on activity. Students used Lite-Brite sets to create a model of how a single atom splitting triggers a cascade of nuclear reactions.

This week, students from Southern Aroostook Community School flew to Washington DC to tour several Memorials, the US Capital Building, the Supreme Court, the National Archives, Mt Vernon, Arlington Cemetery, and Smithsonian Museum’s. Thank you to the school staff and the parent chaperones that made this a memorable experience for our students.
