This past weekend, Southern Aroostook Minor Hockey Association (SAMHA)
14U Tier 4 Junior Blackhawks, played in the Northern Division playoffs
in Augusta. The Blackhawks were seeded #2. The team is anchored by team
captain and goalie, Connor Lilley. Connor is a 9th Grade student at So. Aroostook High School. Congratulations!!
Friday, the Blackhawks defeated Maine Junior Black Bears 1-0, scoring in the last
13.5 seconds of regulation time. On Saturday, the Blackhawks defeated the Midcoast Storm 4-3 scoring the game winning goal in the last 1:36 of regulation time. On Sunday, the Blackhawks defeated the Presque Isle Wildcats 3-1 for the
Northern Division Championship.
The Junior Blackhawks will play this coming Sunday in Auburn for the
State Championship at 4:50 pm. It can be viewed on Livebarn. Best of Luck!!
Region Two School will be hosting an Open House for students in grades 8-11, as well as their families on February 28th from 4pm to 6pm. Students will and parents will be able to learn about the various programs offered at Region Two. Please contact Region Two if you have any questions.

Every year, Aroostook Right to Read sponsors a Bookmark Contest to promote reading for fun. The 2024 winners from SACS have been chosen! Their bookmark designs have been sent off to the print shop so we can all enjoy them! Our winners this year are Waylon Batchelder - grade 2, Jeremiah Green - grade 4 and 7th grader - Raven Ward. Congratulations!

Hope to see you all tomorrow afternoon in Bangor as our girl team chases history. The So. Aroostook High School girls program will play for their sixth consecutive regional championship in their seventh consecutive regional championship game appearance.

So. Aroostook High School students toured the Region Two Career and Technical Center in Houlton today. Students had an opportunity to tour each of the programs offered. Thank you to Region Two for hosting us!!

All students in grades 8-11 will be touring Region Two programs tomorrow as part of the regular school day. We will be leaving school at 8:25 and returning to SACS by 11:30. If your child is interested in applying for a 2024/25 region program, applications will be sent home with them tomorrow. Mrs. Desmond’s second graders celebrated Valentine’s Day by baking and delivering cupcakes from their “Cupid’s Cupcake Cafe”.
Last week So. Aroostook High School held our annual “Pink Out” game with all proceeds from the game going towards recognition for the continued fight against cancer. We raised $1500.00! Thank you to everyone who contributed and made this event happen, including the Katahdin High School girls basketball team, Coach McAvoy and their fans.
