6th graders in Mrs. Harbison's class just finished reading Dragonwings by Laurence Yep. The students became kite makers like the main characters of the book.
So. Aroostook High School held our annual "Community Service Day" today. Students spent the morning working on various projects in our community. Thank you to the high school teachers and staff for helping to coordinate and manage this great day for our kids. Also, thank you to the So. Aroostook Student Council for the delicious burgers, hotdogs, salads, chips, and brownie sundaes.

So. Aroostook 7th grade took a field trip to Orono today to participate in the MLTI conference. MLTI stand for the Maine Learning Technology Initiative. What a great experience for our students to use science and technology in their learning!!

The So. Aroostook High School Baseball and Softball games against Hodgdon High School, scheduled for today, have been postponed. The make-up dates for the games will be on Wednesday May 31st at 3:00pm.
Mrs. Brewers class visited Cushman Hill Goat Farm today! A big thank you to Sophie and Shay for letting us come and cuddle your cute goats and for providing such a wonderful experience for our students!

The Southern Aroostook Community School District was saddened to hear of the passing of longtime educator Mr. Richard Sullivan. Mr. Sullivan, "Sully", taught High School English at So. Aroostook for decades. His sense of humor, wry smile, and ability to reach all of the "English Fans" in his classroom was memorable. He impacted the lives of many and we are grateful for his lifelong contributions to this school and the community. Our thoughts are with his family and friends during this time.

So. Aroostook High School alumnus Nate Lilley graduated from the Maine Criminal Justice Academy today as part of the 43rd Basic Law Enforcement Training Program. Nate served in the army as a sergeant and is currently employed with the City of Bangor Police Department. It's always great to see our former students success and positive contributions to our communities. Congratulations Nate and thank you for your service!!
